Day 04 - The area called Meena Bazaar is an old Indian neighbourhood of Dubai. It was about a twenty-minute walk from where we are staying and near the next Metro Station now called Sharaf DG. The far end of the area is now composed of computer and technology shops but the area closer to the station still has a number of Indian jewelry, fashion, tailoring, and food shops. Jay had the battery, in his expensive, retirement watch, replaced for 10 Dhs (about US $2.70) whereas Birks in Vancouver now charges CA $25.00!
We did find a really neat modern supermarket in the Al Fahidi area and bought a kilo of prawns. We also found an older municipal market with a Nesto Supermarket there. Dubai is all about shopping, I guess. We did stop in a number of other general merchandise shops, such as Day to Day.
We come back here via the Metro. Jay cooked the prawns and we had as a part of lunch.
Later, towards evening, we just popped out around the Bur Juman.
