Some years it used to take the ducks months and months to make the rounds. They are the tokens that remind us to host dinner with this group of friends. I guess as last year was a no-go, we seem more intent on making the duck-swap dinner parties a common event. The last time we were in the West End was at the end of July, so they've already made a full circle. As Tim will soon be visiting Portugal, he wanted to fit in another dinner. This evening, we were there again!
We took the SkyTrain downtown on a bit of an autumn-looking, late afternoon.
For appetizers we each had a plate of Nepali snacks and later gorged on Tim's dinner. Jay's birthday was back on September 8th, so Tim also made a triple chocolate cake with a layer of diplomat cream. The candle showed that it was a special occasion.
The ducks have now settled in with us while Tim is away. We will look forward to having everyone over to New Westminster in October!
