A small package arrived in the post today. I purchased it from a Chinese company nearly two months ago. I have been occasionally picking out items on
Ali Express. My dragon arc lighter was sent in bulk mail through the Netherlands and I guess that's why it took so long. Some other items, I've ordered from different vendors, have arrived in just 10 days.
I added this item to an order as it was only a few bucks and I'm completely satisfied with it. My blue dragon lighter doesn't use a flame; rather, it produces two electrical arcs from the built-in, rechargeable battery. Cool, eh?
China is much more than simply a factory for the west. There are many cutting-edge items that are available from companies there and nowhere else. The majority of new technological gadgets come from competitive, little, entrepreneurial shops in mainland China.
Every time I replace an original, building component from my 1980s-era apartment, such as an electrical outlet or doorknob, they are clearly stamped, MADE IN CANADA. The replacements are always, without a single doubt, made in China.
It's a bit sad we've become a nation of not much more than Tim Hortons franchises and peddlers of our vast, natural resources.
