Since going to the airport in November 2019, we have hardly taken transit. During COVID it just didn't feel like an option. So, yesterday was a bit of a new beginning. We went to dinner in the West End by taking the SkyTrain and then a downtown Vancouver bus.
It was time for a duck party! That is when the current hosts put the rubber ducks back into a bag and they go home with whoever has to be the next host. In fact, we'd not done this since the fall of 2019 either. So it felt really great today.
There was a lot of catching up to do but strangely it felt as though our last meet-up was just the other day. We had things to snack on before dinner and then gathered around the table. As dessert, I was quite surprised by a coconut and lemon cake made in honour of my birthday.
We accepted the ducks, so Jay and I will be responsible for hosting the next dinner in New Westminster. We want to do so quickly, so the ducks can make the rounds during the remainder of the summer and fall.
