Generally, this is the start of the New Westminster Hyack Festival too. We kick off a start to the unofficial summer with events that stretch right through the US Memorial Day weekend. That is not going to happen because of the ban on non-essential travel. We know no floats will be headed here from the BC Interior nor Washington and Oregon for our parade.
More importantly, no animals will be headed to our city's petting farm in Queen's Park. Many things that will be closed this summer don't matter as much to me as not being able to pet the goats. Sigh.
