Today, we stopped at Queen's Park and I plugged in at one of the DC charging stations by the Skatepark. We walked through the rose garden and to the site where our summer petting zoo would ordinarily be. It is sadly, of course, closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As my automated email indicates, my Hyundai KONA Electric was plugged into the fast chargers for around 20 minutes. My battery was at around 66% when we started and at 82% when we got back and unplugged. During our walk, the car accepted 12.716 kWh of power. That should be enough for nearly 100 kilometres of around-town driving.
My last charge was 13 days ago at the same chargers.
At actual BC Hydro (our electrical utility) rates that would be equal to about CA$ 1.05 (or US$ 0.76). However, these chargers are a research collaboration project between the City of New Westminster and BCIT. The power is presently gratis.
