Richard John Hurd taught me a lot about being a good person. Perhaps most importantly he demonstrated, in true Yankee tradition, the importance of becoming an independent person. He also encouraged me to remain curious and adventurous. These prove most true as it's physically impossible for me to return from Malaysia in time to help with his final affairs.
Dad, I will miss our telephone calls and hearing your many stories. I will miss being able to tell you about my life.
My sister will provide more information to me as it becomes available. I want to thank her for her expertise and amazing abilities to ensure his final wishes come to be.
October 1987 - After teaching at the Saudi Army Ordnance School in the city of Taif and a short stay in Sri Lanka, I flew to NH. Dad drove with me to Seattle in my station wagon. He flew home after the short stay.
