It was nice again today but it feels a bit cold for us. For months, we were used to a humid, Malaysian 34°C (93°F) but today in New Westminster it is just 14°C (57°F). Now that we've been back more than a week, we're a bit better adjusted to this time zone. Yet, I am finding it's taking an amazingly long time for us to get acclimated. I know that good quality sleep seems to be more difficult as one gets older. Now I'm wondering if age also affects one's ability to adjust to different schedules.
We went uptown to pick up a few things but included a drive in our new EV too. We went through the parking lots at BCIT in Burnaby, my old place of employment. I just wanted to see the completed Energy Oasis. It was operational when I retired in 2014, I think. However, now I have a car which would plug into the EV charging area covered by the large solar array. Some of the older, BCIT buildings have been spruced up but what is it they say about putting lipstick on a pig? The campus has to be one of the uglier campuses in British Columbia. Even with the tall condos which have sprouted nearby, only the view of the Northshore Mountains is its saving grace.
We had to be back for we had the fireplace technician come at 1:00 PM. Our gas fireplace was serviced a few years ago, but the ignitor switch broke again and since coming back to BC, it wouldn't stay lit. A short hour and $195 later, we are all set for tonight. With all this clear sky comes colder temperatures. It's going down to 5°C (41°F) tonight!
