Who Needs a February Thaw?

Day 108 - Although I have not been on a pair of skis since I was about 12 years old, I know there are people who take solace in winter activities. The big problem for me is that winter events generally take place in COLD weather.

I checked the Internet weather report for Vancouver, BC moments ago. That is our permanent home and often one of the warmer places in Canada. Every night for the upcoming week the temperatures will be right around the freezing point of water. Variety is nice for some things, but in my book, that doesn't hold for outdoor temperatures. I'll keep the consistency but move the numbers much further up the scale.


The temperature may have reached 34°C in this city today.
Evenings in Kuala Lumpur will be a comfortable 24°C or 25°C (74°F to 76°F) for the foreseeable future. As a bonus, we will also see exactly 12 hours and 3 minutes of daylight between sunrise and sunset.

You may begin to see why we are in SE Asia, again, for the whole winter.
