Day 75 - This morning we didn't really have any plans. We decided to head to KL Sentral / Brickfield. You see, those were our stomping grounds on the initial visit to Kuala Lumpur in September of 2011. We stayed in Hotel Sentral and noticed that it was still there. Lots of things in that area had changed though. Its roughness seems to be getting slightly gentrified with ongoing work on extra-wide sidewalks and landscaping.
The area is next to the KL Sentral Station which makes it a hub for transit options. The KLIA Ekspres train from the International and Low-Cost Carrier airports terminate here. The station is also an easy point to take a commuter train to Batu Caves. We transited through this station on the Hindu Thaipusam festivities last Monday. During a couple of visits, the area was under seemingly non-stop construction. Now, it substantially better with Nu Sentral, a large shopping complex, connected to the station. It's not as if Kuala Lumpur needs any more places to shop; there are malls all over the city.
Today, we could have taken the Monorail to get closer to our apartment, but we opted to catch the free GoKL red-line bus. We got off as soon as we were parallel to our neighbourhood. Jay cooked lunch here so I keep forgetting that eating out is a very, very inexpensive option here in Malaysia.
We usually split our exploration into two sections. Afternoons now always feature an hour of naptime! Tonight we will probably go back out. We try to walk an absolute minimum of five kilometers per day.
