"Precisely," I gleefully smirked at the time! She is a person who really gets me. I've never minded being a bit of a pain in the ass. And I don't see a need to make any changes now. So, let me continue with the weather.

Above, you can see three pictures of a lovely evening walk to Masjid Jamek yesterday. The blue, LED lighting where the rivers meet is very picturesque. What made it even better was the fact it is the third week of January but the temperature was an extremely comfortable 25°C (77°F). At 7:30 PM, we slipped out of our building in just shorts and t-shirts. The only footwear that I have with me is a pair of Keen sandals. Not needing extra clothing at this time of year seems magical. Perhaps this is why the city views seemed even more stunning in person.
Then, after a deep and restful sleep, we awoke to a sunny sky with beautiful puffy clouds this morning. We're in the habit of getting up around 8:00 AM recently. However, by the time we were ready to get going, it was closer to 10:30! We decided to head to the LuLu Hypermarket. Don't let this sound like a big deal, it is literally across the road from our building, the Maytower.
The hypermarket has all the food on the first floor. However, there are several more floors when one heads up escalators. In fact, we have three competing department-type stores within 500 meters from our apartment. On the second floor, I spotted the luggage section.

I'd planned on getting rid of an old piece of luggage on this trip, knowing that things are much more inexpensive in Malaysia. I hadn't planned on buying anything today, but I saw a cheap silver, hard-shell piece that was 50% off. My old black bag had seen better days. In fact, it appeared on a baggage carousel recently with one side crushed. I pushed the metal bars back into place but was aware it was on borrowed time. Now, it is destined for the garbage room in our building.

I do have to say it served me well. I never buy good-quality luggage although we use it much more frequently than most folks. I couldn't remember when we got a matching pair. Jay's bit the dust already and he is on a new bag. I did find a photo from September of 2006 which shows them looking pretty virginal. We were waiting at the 22nd SkyTrain station in New Westminster for the #100 bus to YVR. We were heading to Sri Lanka and Hong Kong for six weeks. So after more than a dozen years of hard use, the old thing deserves to be retired.
