Day 81 - I'm not sure which of these photos best represents our neighbourhood today.
The top picture shows a stray mother with two kittens. Our building has a small, abandoned garage area on one side. One can see inside where some now derelict furniture is stored. These felines were asleep on a very high-quality but dusty bed way inside. I could only take the photo because of my zoom lens. Jay has been saving our chicken bones to leave outside the slatted gate in the evenings. The scraps disappear every day so probably these cats that are getting them. They've found such a comfortable hiding place that I fear the kittens may grow up feral and afraid of humans.
The other picture of the neighbourhood proves just how much work is going on for all the nearby sidewalks. It seems like this whole section of the city is getting new sidewalks. And they're getting updated all at once! It is nice to see that the municipality is making sure to cut the width of the streets and increase the sidewalk areas to include areas for bushes and flowers. If you leave a patch of dirt bare in this climate, you can pretty much be assured of a jungle in a year.
