Offerings for Galungan

Day 45 - This year, hot on the heels of Christmas, is the Balinese-Hindu celebration of Galungan. This holiday occurs every 210 days. Penjors, the bamboo and palm frond poles decorating streets, were erected yesterday. In fact, festivities have already been three days in the making.

Today's events started with most families praying at their local temples. The temples are busy for the entire day while many businesses are closed. When out this morning, in our crowded neighbourhood, we saw dozens of ladies bringing offers of fruits. Luckily, I was able to take a few pictures.
