Our cruise ship, the MS Westerdam, anchored in Malta last August.
A half month ago, we toyed with the idea of a fall cruise from here to Ft. Lauderdale, FL through the Panama Canal. It took us a while to decide against the three-week exploration. One problem, perhaps the main one, is that no cruise ships actually stop in Panama City! It'd be nice to see the canal zone from a deck on an enormous ship, but we really want to get out and experience Panama too. A second reason for forgoing such a trip is the fact I gained 25 pounds during the 66 nights aboard two Holland America ships in 2017. I still have those not-so-wonderful souvenirs.
Yet, we thought we might take a few different trips before we head away for winter. We will spend a week next month in Cuba. Then, we will see Panama City up close for seven nights in October. We thought of that city as an option earlier this summer. We are doing a really good job on our early-retirement, 10-year plan. It never hurts to scout for new locations in which to experience life during our winters.
