We went up a bit before the parade this morning. The annual, International Hayak Parade is a tradition in New Westminster, BC. We host one of the first of the summer festivals and reciprocate by attending other festivals with our city's float. Thie parade always occurs on the Saturday of the US Memorial Day weekend. Hence, many of the floats and marching bands are from Washington State. The group from Spokane had quite a trip to get here. We also appreciated the kids from Portland, OR. The parade lasted more than one hour with over 100 entries!
Luckily, we parked on the roof of the Royal City Mall, and had easy access. We came home had lunch, a nap, and a shower.
Then we went to our first 'Duck Dinner' of the season. Today, we converged on Richmond. The meal and drinks there are always outstanding. We walked out to the river for a bit of exercise. We had to make room after all those hors-d'oeuvres. There are dozens of my eJournal and images entries here of similar, past meet-ups with these guys. We've been using the rubber duckies for a cue, as to who must host the next dinner, for a dozen years. The Richmond gents handed them to the West-enders at the end of the evening.
