Dredging the Fraser River

I've been watching this ship a lot this week from our balcony. It's working to dredge this part of the Fraser River of mud and silt.

Nearly across the river from us, the reclaimed dirt is piled on vacant port land. I cannot get close to look at the process up close, but the pumps utilized must be amazing pieces of mechanical equipment. I find these sorts of things fascinating.
