Back when we were on the minimum 15 Mbps plan, there were just a few occasions when our Optik TV had trouble keeping up. We were watching a channel and another was recording on the PVR. Then, when a timer kicked in to record a third HD program, a warning popped up indicating insufficient bandwidth. Maybe we were doing things on computer and tablets as well.
None of the Telus Optik TVoIP use counts towards our monthly bandwidth consumption. However, we should not run into that problem again on the 25 Mbps tier.
Another advantage of the newer plan is an increase in our data bandwidth cap to 300 Gb per month. It seems as though 10 GB / day should be sufficient for awhile. That's a lot of downloading! I noticed that for a few days after the switch-over our speeds were a bit inconsistent. Now, however, the company ensures we always have at least 27 Mbps down.
