My little activity tracker has a heart rate monitor and so it is easy for me to keep track. In fact, it's almost too easy to keep taking readings.
This morning, I could tell my heart was racing for unexplained reasons. I felt all nervous and anxious as I could tell something wasn't right. Over time, my pulse kept climbing to over 115 when I was just simply sitting. During each reading, the number bounced around considerably. We drove up to the clinic to see my doctor. He too was concerned enough so that I have an appointment to wear a holter device for 24 hours. I have to have it attached at 1:00 PM tomorrow.

I've been getting over a cold and was trying to think of anything I may have done out of the ordinary this morning. I'd been taking cold medications for around five days but have started to cease using them now. I did note a stuffed up nose and gave a few shots of decongestant as soon as I got up. When looking online, I see many warnings that this type of situation is not unknown. The spray can cause rapid / and or irregular heart rhythm. I am pretty sure this is what happened.
Now it is the afternoon and I feel considerably more relaxed. My normal pulse when resting is under 70 bpm and mine is still a bit elevated in the mid 70's. But I can tell the episode is now over. I am nearly sure that my trouble stemmed from this product. I have successfully used these types of sprays in the past, but today seemed much more than coincidence.
I'll continue to have my monitor fitted tomorrow just for the experience of it. However, I will consult with the doctors to see if my hunch has validity.
