Last evening, we decided to board the SkyTrain and head to downtown Vancouver early. We were downtown for the 9:00 PM 'Family Fireworks' show. We had already returned home to complete watching the Vancouver celebration from the comfort of home by the stroke of midnight. It is nice to see such an active and busy scene at the Waterfront area. People used to complain that the largest city in British Columbia was a no-fun zone. The renewal of Vancouver's New Year's events began last year while we were in Luxor, Egypt. A major city this size needs an outlet for a countdown. I'm pleased that Global TV did such a great job in covering it. Our "national broadcaster" is pretty useless in covering local events.
Soon, I'll smell turkey as it begins to roast. We've always had a tradition of chicken on Christmas. This might have been necessary for the lack of the big birds in our early days in the Gulf. Now however, cooking a turkey has become a New Year's Day tradition.
