Our strata (condo) council continues to organize quarterly junk removal days. I think they may have started a dozen years ago. The days, when we set aside a section of parking for professional junk removal, have turned into a very helpful service. We can get rid of anything which shouldn't be disposed of in the normal garbage. We got rid of a number of items today, including three, gallon-cans of old paint. The largest item we were able to get out of the apartment was an old mattress. We first slept on on our new Endy memory-foam mattress on the 7th of last month. Yet remembering we had a junk day coming up, we just pushed the old Serta up against a bedroom wall. We've been navigating around it for nearly six weeks, I guess. Today, we got to haul it down the elevator. We threw it over the hood of the truck, opened the windows to hold on, and I drove to the refuse area by peeking over the part of the windshield that wasn't obscured.

Later in the afternoon more unwanted items appeared. Residents can help themselves to anything they see, so the event can turn into a bit of a swap meet. Today, I'm happy to report, we returned with nothing!
