What's a Canfor?

I must admit that I loved playing with photographic negatives as a kid. I had an old darkroom enlarger when in high school although I don't have a single print as evidence of those days. I thought that saying I dodged and burned made me sound really cool.

Employing exotic techniques seems so simple today on my tablet. A few swipes can alter an image nearly beyond the limits of one's imagination. Initially I didn't like how this colour shot turned out. It was easy to turn off the distracting hues and subsequently blur everything except the foreground.


This is just a few steps from our apartment. The tracks run through downtown New Westminster along side the Fraser River. This is a working system with kilometer-long trains. Today, the whole length of cars on this particular load was filled with cut, Canfor lumber. How very representative of British Columbia! I'd much rather transport this natural product through town than coal or petroleum products destined for export.
