The fountain was a rather basic pool with a single spurt of pumped water about a foot and a half high in the middle. That must have been considered modern during the 1980's. Jay always said it reminded him of a large leak from a broken water main.
A few weeks ago, I noticed that three rock columns had been added. Now, a subtle veneer of flowing water runs over the surfaces of the columns into the same round pool. It is surely much quieter than the former installation. Sometimes change simply for its own sake is good.
