It was a celebration as Chinese president Xi Jinping was in Egypt "to discuss regional matters and bilateral relations" with his Egyptian counterpart. The event took place at eight o'clock last night to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations. An area of the Nile was closed for river traffic and a helicopter buzzed overhead. At least 500 renowned artists from both countries were involved in preformances.
We, however, somehow missed our personal invitations. We walked to the area across from the temple on our West Bank side to snap a few pictures. Then, we found the broadcast of the event on television a bit later.
