Are Donkeys Party Animals? - Day 57

We hadn't given a lot of thought where to spend this evening. Of course Luxor's Winter Palace Hotel would probably have been interesting, but unlike when Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile there in 1930's, the New Year's Eve bash alone would have cost the two of us over $US 350. That is more than we pay for a month's rent.

We were thinking of something a little more meager, obviously. Even the shindigs at the Hilton Resort, Sonesta St. George, Steigenberger Nile Palace, Iberotel Luxor, Mercure Luxor Karnak, and Sheraton Luxor Resort may have all been options. Yet, those still really didn't seem our speed either. How about a little more laid back and authentic?

Luckily, we met the owner of the Hotel Sheheradaze after getting off the ferry yesterday. He was handing out notices about a New Year's Eve Party. As long as we showed that flyer, he promised that the EP120 price would be reduced to about $US 12 per person. Now, we're talkin'! It includes a buffet spread and the free show. The best thing is we needn't even cross the river as this is not far from our neighborhood.

We have to pass by the horse and camel stables to get there. We'd never visited it though, so this morning we walked to check out the hotel. Lovely place. It's a grand building on a back alley. We bought tickets. I'm not sure what to expect for food and entertainment, but it deserves a go.
