Last week in an entry here, I mentioned downloading some 'pay-for' software that'd help me convert more personal video for easy uploading on YouTube. That is the eventual goal. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to locate missing pieces from 24 years of personal video from vacations and events. Years back, when YouTube started allowing me to upload more than 15-minute clips, I began thinking about getting it all online.
It struck me that even the data that was moved from tape to DVD is out of date. We rely on the little Android box and the living room TV is not even connected to a DVD player nowadays. Getting some of the missing files into a format I can upload has taken longer than I expected. Moreover, I already have over 50 GB of data and I'm not done yet.
Just getting that much video physically onto YouTube will prove to be a bit of a task. I think it would be easier and faster to for me to drive to BCIT and log into a lab computer for faster Internet access. My Telus home 5 or 6 MBps upload speeds will take, what seems like, forever. Even after I get it all there, it will take even longer to get titles added and all the files sorted and organized.
My little project is turning into a much larger job than I had anticipated.
