We've been following air ticket prices since we first had the idea of staying on the Nile. I don't know why over the last couple of days, the transatlantic fares seem to have suddenly increased by several hundred dollars. Part of this probably stems from the fact the Canadian dollar continues to tank yet that doesn't explain the increase on all possible routes to Cairo.
With the extra time luckily afford us, I thought I'd see if I could avail myself for volunteer opportunities. Whereas, it would have been very easy to join expat volunteers in a myriad of projects in Puerto Vallarta, it seems hard to come across similar information in this part of Egypt. Making the situation more difficult, the websites of some local charities and aid organizations are notoriously out of date. It seems as though often the initial creator moves on with nobody to take over the responsibilities of keeping things updated.
The Small Pryamid appears to be a German charity still operating. This afternoon, I sent them a request for more information. I hope that if they are unable to use a bit of my extra time, they'll at least point me in a useful direction.
