I am not sure how big a book it really is. The reassuring heft of an actual paperback gives a holder an ongoing estimate of how much one has bitten off. With this e-copy being displayed on my tablet via Overdrive, I have lost the chance for that type of physical guesstimate. I get page numbers only for the current chapter and the percentage of progress on the whole book. I have no idea how fast a reader I am. Yet, I see it's taken me a long time to get through the six chapters I've finished. At the moment I'm only 30.4% done. I fear I won't have time to finish and have never tried to renew an electronic book from the BC Libraries. There doesn't seem to be a way to renew something checked out before its end date. I do hope I can check it out again right away.
Twice Born is the first book of a set of three. I do a lot of my reading online, but when I do sit down with novels, they're generally historical fiction. This seems the perfect way for me to prepare with some background for next winter in Luxor. This writer is a Canadian and I've never read anything from her before. I have so much respect for writers who can use their knowledge of a particular subject to weave a tale that educates and entertains.
