Old town's Aguacate Street ends at the river. Jay found a little, local gym there and bought a three month membership for around $US 65. It is a pleasant walk across this part of town. As I've mentioned previously, we are living at the other end of the street just a little distance from where it turns into a set of stairs up the hillside. So, I locked up and went along to the river too. No, not to the gym as that might interfere with my slothful ways. I like the small park that runs along this side of the river. It connects to a suspension bridge that crosses over to the River Cuale island. I sat watching the neighbours and soaked in the scenery for three quarters of an hour. I listened to unfamiliar music wearing big headphones.
I had discovered myself in somewhat of a musical rut listening to the same-old, tired classics from decades ago. (That is what we now call oldies when trying to ignore how long ago the music was actually released.) Over the last couple of weeks, I have been collecting samples of newer music for my phone. I have turned off cell phone data on my Mexican number as I really just want to keep the phone for emergencies. So, when I go on walks, I've taken to keeping music on Google Play. This allows me to download tracks to my Nexus 5 when I am not near wifi.
Today, I found a track that summed up my feelings of being in Puerto Vallarta. Okay, I guess it isn't brand new and I haven't really been trying to collect contemporary country music. Still, modern country does have a whole genre of 'drinking on the beach' songs. I chose the YouTube version that only shows the album cover because I didn't want the actual music video to wreck the ideas in my head. Here is Feelin' It.
