So, after breakfast we decided to do something other than the usual. We had never visited the Vallarta Marina area. We walked past the Guadalajara Pharmacy to catch a bus to the Marina. Across the street from where we waited, there's an old building I have always considered attractive. Perhaps, it's really the bougainvillea I like. I have often thought that a little loving care and massive financial investment could make this home to some very nice apartments.
We waited quite a while for a bus as we wanted one that went past the Walmart towards the airport. We really wanted one that went into the marina area, but after seeing we were passing that area, we signalled for the bus to stop. We found ourselves walking around the Marina Plaza. What a grand shopping space that must have been! How long ago was it built? It looked so sad inside as a majority of the shops were for rent, yet the building had grande archways and soaring ceilings. About the only functioning business was a large supermarket. We did find an HSBC branch ATM as it was time to get some more cash. For most food needs we just use credit cards at the supermarkets. On occasion we need to top up on pesos though.
As it was getting late for lunch, we decided to bus back to our side of town rather than walk to see all the boats. The marina area was not far away, but we can save that for another day. We grabbed the first bus that came along with a sign to CENTRO. It took a very convoluted route through some very non-touristy neighbourhoods in Pitillal. It was probably twice as long as a direct route, but for 50 or 60 cents it was like an unofficial tour. Even an unsuccessful plan can turn out just fine.
I didn't take a photo until we were walking from the bus stop up Aguacate street towards home. We are about a quarter of the way up this hill.
