On Monday we were in Stanley Park for a bit of our BC Day. Looking back towards the Vancouver Waterfront has always impressed me. Our
new Convention Centre is not so new anymore but it continues to be a special building and a unique gem for the city. It has a green roof so as I looked across Coal Harbour, it appeared as if a grassy knoll rises from the water. Excellent. It is packed with meadow grasses and grows wild. I believe there are bee hives as a part of the installation. Cities should surely have a lot more nature in them.

So, I was also happy to notice that BCIT is involved in creating green walls too. There is a sample project on one of the carpentry buildings. (I got to see this twice as I had to return to the campus this afternoon. I left my tablet on a desk in front of my classroom. There are not too many people in the buildings at this time of year.) I wish more of the Burnaby Campus were covered by vegetation!
