Taking a Free Ride

This is just a little show of gratitude to our SkyTrain system. Although I never use it to get to work, it is our primary means of getting to downtown Vancouver. Jay buys monthly passes even though he only works part-time nowadays. That means presently on Sundays and holidays, I can ride with him for free. Unfortunately, a new fare gate system, due to be fully operational by January, is going to put a stop to that.

Today was Labour Day, so we decided to take a trip downtown. Rather than the straight shot west on the Expo Line from Columbia, we went via the Millenium Line and changed trains at Broadway. Our building opens right into the SkyTrain station. Although noisy, and occasionally a bad neighbour, it couldn't be more convenient. Alas, today, the Sears Outlet Store at Lougheed Town Centre did not have a suitable refrigerator to replace our aging energy hog. At least, the views from on the less-familiar line were interesting.

SkyTrain, I love you. I cannot quite say the same for your operating organization, though.
