Twitter means different things to different people. The primary reason that it is less-used than other social media by my friends and students is because it has so many different uses. People have to be pretty resourceful to figure out a need. Unlike Facebook, it isn't all about connecting to friends. Some individuals do, indeed, use it as a means to keep tabs on others' activities. One, for example, could tune into local or regional chatter or politics. Once, I used to do this.

I have long used Twitter as a way to broadcast my blogging activity. More recently, I have decided to share my Flipboard reading too. Now, I am also using it as a sort of RSS replacement. When I get an informational source I'd like to follow, I add the Twitter account and place onto a personally-crafted Twitter list. I have added these lists to my Flipboard subscriptions, so I can automatically gather headlines and choose which to consume.

I have at least a dozen different lists. For example, I have one just for regional news via Twitter. Whenever I look, the list contains new data. Yet, the presentation in Flipboard is more attractive as photos are shown and one just flips to additional stories. So I follow on my tablet as it looks like this static image.
