Seconds ago, I just returned from having the Ford Ranger's
oil changed at Hyack Tire, a three-minute walk from here.
I do have to say that over the years, due to its dependable service, the rig has grown on me. I never was much taken in by the supposed status symbolism of a vehicle, but I guess personal transportation does, sort of, make a statement about its owner. Just choosing to own a compact pick-up truck probably says volumes about me. The fact that I bought it new in 1996 and that it has just 89025 miles on it, says more. I think back in the day, I paid $10,000 cash for it, so I wanted it to last a decade. Well, obviously I maintain things, so I see no reason to now expect less than 20. The summer of 2016 is only three years away!
I never even considered that someone could actually own the same vehicle for twenty years. Huh. How about that.
