I feel we made a pretty damn good choice in choosing to live in downtown New Westminster. Until after our arrival in Vancouver to live, we'd never heard of the Royal City. Some of our initial house-hunting involved using the SkyTrain. We looked at a map and it looked as if New West was located right in the center of the Metro-Vancouver area. We rented for nearly two years on Agnes Street before buying a condo apartment three blocks east.
The area has changed immensely over the years, mostly for the better. Development projects have breathed life back into the area. We have places to shop within walking distance now. We can even catch a movie in a cinema complex just down the street. The whole of Columbia Street has gotten makeover. Even a riverside park has opened. I am very happy we ended up in this historic yet up-and-coming location.
