
They're at it again. This was not the work of terrorists nor the fault of poor construction.
My city of New Westminster, BC ends up as a backdrop in a great many movie and television programs. We're part of Hollywood North's vibrant production facilities and industry. I am always pausing TV to see if we can recognize local scenes in movies.
Right now, over the weekend, a feature film is being shot in the area. Film crews and all the accompanying support staff have sort of taken-over the downtown area. This smashed police car is emblazoned as belonging to the city of San Francisco. We act as stand in for many different place. This, however, is the same hill Mark Wahlberg sped down in Shooter before making a rather spectacular crash in the river. It also leads to Will Smith's unassuming future 2035 apartment in I, Robot.
Perhaps for some blog entry, I'll try to paste the cover images of many of the dozens of flicks shot here. See if you can spot this particular car in next year's release of Godzilla.
