We are hanging around today as there's no reason not to. Rather than just sitting on the beach, we went by bus to China Bay early on. It gave a good perspective of the harbor area that is world class. The natural harbour is one of the world's best at over 3000 ft deep in places. It is completely protected and hidden from the sea yet expansive. The Sri Lankan Air force and Navy have bases with a history going back to the British. Now it makes a little more sense that we passed a British Military Cemetery on the coast road as it must contain the remains of dead WW2 personnel.
There was not a whole lot to see except a much closer view of the enormous the Prima flour facility and a cement plant. Yet seeing just how large the harbor is, was interesting.
Back to Minuwangoda tomorrow?
