I think we're travel junkies. Sure, going somewhere new is educational. Travel expands one's horizons and gives perspectives on life otherwise impossible. Seeing different cultures even makes one more open-minded about ways to view the world.

I have come to realize that our frequent journeys are a bit of an addiction though. I am always ready to jump into an unknown city and let new and unfamiliar sights and sounds wash over me. In fact, escaping from the familiar routines of life makes one's usual worries all seem somewhat petty.
A year ago today, our plane was landing in Shanghai China. Yet, a year in the past seems so long ago. Other than the onward part of that trip to Malaysia, and a week in Puerto Vallarta during February, we've stuck pretty close to home. So, I'll assuredly be ready in six weeks to head out again. When spending three months in Sri Lanka I will feel quite at home and relaxed. Following that, the last six weeks touring in Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos should fulfill my longings to be immersed in untrod and unfamiliar spots.
