Growing them cannot be justified on an economic basis. We just got back from the Langley Farm Market in Burnaby. Freshly grown local tomatoes were selling for less than the equivalent of 20 cents each. Oh, how I do so love August in BC though. We did get some Okanagan peaches. I've already eaten enough local cherries this summer to kill a horse. (Wait, are cherries injurious to Equus ferus?) Local apricots, plums, plum-cots, blueberries, and strawberries are all on the menu this time of year as as well.
I think I'll simply refuse to accept that next weekend is officially the end of summer. I have decided to boycott fall this year.
