Last season was the first time that the refurbished Hyack Square sported the New Westminster Christmas tree. I was not very impressed with the artificial thing in the middle of the raised platform. I lamented the fact we live in a province where the lumber industry's important and yet we couldn't celebrate with something real.
As you can see, this year we have a tree that grew in real soil. The Record mentioned that it was donated by Langley's Barclay Brook Gardens. I'd like to thank them. I will be teaching until 4:00 pm tomorrow at BCIT, but I will drive as quickly as I can to make it home for the Santa Clause Parade of Lights. It celebrates its 25th year in 2011 and we'll have lived in New Westminster for 16 of them. I love my little city.
