This was the 40th year of the Hyack Festival International Parade in New Westminster, BC. The festival occurs over two weekends, our Victoria Day and the US Memorial Day. The celebration predates our arrival by a nearly a quarter century. I cannot say how many of the last fourteen parades we actually attended, but it certainly seems is if it's a tradition to us.
New Westminster must pretty much kick off the summer festival season with this parade. For the remainder of the summer many of these floats will appear around BC and Washington State. Today, I noticed a high school marching band from Spokane, Washington. In previous years I know that bands from California have made it up. This year it was billed as The Largest Parade in BC. Unfortunately, the Seafair Pirates did not explode their way along the route at the end of the procession this year.
