As requested, I just removed something from my Internet domain. Occasionally, former students get in contact to ask I remove an old writing assignment. In this case I got a message from New York City about a writing which came up in search results. Of course, I acted quickly. Ten years of additional experience could make an old writing look quite weak. Personal views can certainly change in a decade as well.
Things that find their way onto the Internet can live forever. That's an idea I sort of relish. Of course, I'm too old to have any follies of youth online. Data which cannot be deleted is something that I'm sure will become more of a problem in the future. I expect that we, as a society, will have to learn to tolerate information about us which is out there but no longer seems valid or desirable.
