Do You Welcome or Fear Change?

People come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colours. There may be one way to divide them into two simple groups, however. I'd like to suggest that people fall into one of two categories: those who do not like change and those who thrive on it.

Whenever I see how distraught and vocal some get when Facebook changes something, I place them into the former. I notice these trends with the adoption of all things technological. People who feel uncomfortable figuring out something, also fall into this category. On the other hand, some people embrace seeing things change. Many seek out the adventure of the unknown and need constant change to keep from being bored.

Of course in different parts of life, humans may switch from one side to the other. I really do not think, though, there's much middle ground in most cases. I most assuredly belong to the second group. What about you?



One reason I love living near an urban area is the speed at which the pace of construction and renewal take place. I took the photo above from the New Westminster SkyTrain Station today. The mega-towers built for the Plaza 88 development include retail shopping space. This area will become the new movie theatres. The sights around my little city in the center of the Metro-Vancouver area have witnessed tremendous changes in the fifteen years since we arrived and I love it!
