I'm definitely going to enjoy teaching just on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. Today, I had a chance to do little errands. For example, I went to the laundromat to throw our winter coats into one of the double-load washers. Riding around on New York City subways last week got them dirty. As the temperature around town here seldom drops into the 30's Fahrenheit, the heavy jackets are not often used. In fact they may have been more dusty from the closet than dirty from the L-line.Other errands included picking up peppers and bananas, buying NiHM batteries for my wireless keyboard and mouse, and driving to Walmart for a few things.
I enjoyed every minute of doing these tasks. There were no time limits. I had no obligations. My time was my own. I look forward to an entire spring filled with Tuesdays and Thursdays such as today. I don't think teachers can be effective without copious amounts of down time. As well, I believe it's time to start practicing for an early retirement.
