Earlier in the week, I entered five pets I've owned into a Facebook application. I'm not much of an app collector. I simply hate most of the inane quizzes and can't imagine wasting my time playing games in Facebook. Living Social, however, has a created something called,
Pick your Five. It's easy and takes only a few moments to complete one. So far, I've done about a dozen ranging from "
Five Albums that Shaped Me" to "
Five Museums I've Visited". My pet selections appeared on my wall. The first one was my childhood collie dog named, Sandy. She was sand-coloured as a pup. My fondness of thinking of her after all these decades shows how important pet ownership can be for children.
I will repost an actual picture of her in my blog today for another reason. I was a little sad at the news that Kodak will no longer make Kodachrome film. Of course digital photography has totally eliminated the need for slide film. It was purely a business decision but quite an accomplishment to have been able to stick around for nearly three quarters of a century. At least Paul Simon's song will live on.
My dog Sandy originally shot on Kodachrome 40 years ago.
