I am always fairly exhausted at the end of these intensive courses. We pack sixteen hours of classroom time into a four-day week. That is a lot of time together. That is a lot of interaction. I am always pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of improvement many are able to make in a mere five weeks. The learning process still seems like a bit of a miracle to me. I do find that I'm a little less patient with students' excuses nowadays. Over the years, it seems I've heard many. As a general rule, because they are adult learners, they treat our work professionally. I am appreciative of that. I wonder if there's less likely a chance of 'educator burnout' when working with mature students.
