I finished up too much of my end-of-term work earlier. My students still have up to an hour and a half to complete their final examinations but I have nothing to do. I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing. At least wifi extends to nearly ever nook and cranny of campus nowadays and, additionally, I can devote better attention to answering any questions which students may ask. Of all 84 classroom hours, this bit is the least stressful.I am always fairly exhausted at the end of these intensive courses. We pack sixteen hours of classroom time into a four-day week. That is a lot of time together. That is a lot of interaction. I am always pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of improvement many are able to make in a mere five weeks. The learning process still seems like a bit of a miracle to me. I do find that I'm a little less patient with students' excuses nowadays. Over the years, it seems I've heard many. As a general rule, because they are adult learners, they treat our work professionally. I am appreciative of that. I wonder if there's less likely a chance of 'educator burnout' when working with mature students.
