I am at an age where I appreciate the little things that make life enjoyable. Notice I could've written
finer things but somehow
little seemed a better adjective. Some people wander through life demanding everything and being appreciative of nothing. Luckily, that's not moi.

As a youth, I can remember a giant, shiny percolator that used to make coffee for Baptist gatherings. It was the size of a small missile and would dim the lights when plugged in. I wonder how many people nowadays, can recall seeing perking coffee appear in a little glass doodad at the top of a machine. I assume the darkness of the liquid's colour told one the brew's strength.
I am truly thankful for my present-day, filter-drip coffee maker. Yesterday, I had to be up early. I love my
el-cheapo Proctor-Silex device simply because it has a timer. I set it about 15 minutes before the alarm so that the aroma of fresh coffee will waft though the apartment and wake me before the annoying clock.
I should also add a
Happy 4th today for my star-fangled friends.
