Gradual Decline into Disorder

If you ever studied physics, you might remember the concept of entropy. At its most basic, entropy means that everything in the universe is falling apart. On a personal level, it is why owning property means neverending maintenance. For example, this morning when we switched on the kitchen lights, the ceiling lights didn't come on.



These are old, 48-inch, T-12 tubes. I'll need to buy four as all seem pretty dark at the ends. I was not sure if this older-type of lighting is still being produced. I remember when our building changed to newer fixtures on all the parking levels. At the time I read that T-12s would eventually be phased out.

This would be an excellent time to go for a new, more energy-efficient, fixture. If these had burnt out at the beginning of the summer, we might have. Yet as we have only two weeks until we leave for the winter, I guess I'll just run to the hardware store for replacement tubes. I see they are still listed on the online websites.
