Day 004 of Our Winter: We got up early because the sunrise was 5:57 am today. The birds had already started the cacophony well before then. As it's light, why not get up? So we were up before 6:45 am.
We puttered around for a few hours eating breakfast and doing ritual morning activities.
We decided to head to town about 10:30 to the Keel's Supermarket. It's around two miles and so too far to walk. It's about a half mile walk to the main road and it's been years and years since we even walked that far from the house. We restarted the PickMe app which is like a local Uber. We called a tuk tuk driver to come and pick us up. It took him around six minutes because he came from downtown to take us back there! It cost around $ US 0.75 as it wasn't rush hour. We gave that guy the equivalent of about an American buck.
After scouting around the store for around forty minutes, we had three bags of groceries. A kilo of freshly-cut chicken breasts cost around $US 6.50. I think we pay two and a half times that in Canada. We got things like shampoo and a local brand of Axe. Jay got a bunch of vegetables. He also got the curd that comes in a clay pot. We used PickMe again in the store to come directly home. The returning fellow had a clean simple tuk tuk. It was unlike the customizing we got to see when left the house.
