I've just discovered the Bluesky app. It's a Twitter (X) replacement without all the drama. I quit Twitter two years ago after it was purchased by the freak. Perhaps that venue will take fulfill the reason I created this blog page. We'll see.
Take a look: Bluesky

Spending time in Dubai makes me realize how very much I really love being in this city. There's the feeling of progress and participation here that is difficult to find in many places.

A blood glucose reading of 5.2 mmol/L (93.6 mg/dL) two hours after lunch. That is so much better than prior to Ozempic. I happily look forward to my next A1c test in a few months or when we get back in March!

Continuing to tie up all the loose ends before winter away. Put travel advisories on credit cards, picked out clothes for packing, and a hundred other little things have been accomplished today.

We struggled to get out of bed and threw on some clothing. Our building has 17 floors of apartments. The fire alarm had already gotten most everyone up and out. One good point was this false alarm occurred at 6:30 am!

We've started plans for a June 2025 trip to southeastern Europe. We aren't planning to get up to Budapest, Hungary on this trip. Jay and I visited 17 years ago now! We love the city but there are so many places we have to see in one month, a return visit won't end up on the itinerary.

Just called to schedule a stop for Internet service when we away for the winter. The staff at NOVUS are so polite and helpful. Just another reason why going away is cheaper than staying home.

A FUN FACT:
If all the arteries and veins in a human’s circulatory system were put together, they would stretch for 60,000 miles (100,000 km). That’s almost two and a half times around the Earth.

Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
If they flew over the bay, they would be bagels.

For now, let's just kick things off with a link to a personal Flickr photo album which I hold dear.
It contains a representative image of each and every country or territory that I've visited up till now. All of these places, save for two, I visited with Jay during our years together. He never traveled to Syria or Kuwait. However, he went to two countries where I've never visited: Cyprus and Pakistan.
Here, I've selected one of the images to include. I took a photo of these still famous water towers in the country of Kuwait. The image taken long before the Gulf Wars and was already a symbol of the country when I accepted my first teaching job right out of college. It was a fascinating glimpse into the world outside the protected bubble of my youth.
