The weather today was especially nice. This is the time of year to be along BC's southern coast! We walked to Sixth Street and then crossed into Pier Park along the river.
I'm posting a few pictures here from our afternoon walk to the New Westminster Quay. We wanted to take a closer look at the extension of Pier Park than we can see from the balcony. Plus, we'd not been in the Quay Market for what seems like eons.
The Quay Market is now accessible from the west side of the two, tall Pier West Towers. However, the boardwalk along the front has not been completed. I am wondering whether the city will be able to get the new area finished in 2025.
We continued walking to see where a Sri Lankan catering company offers a pop-up buffet on Fridays. We found it right next to the old market along Quayside Drive. We returned by walking the pedestrian passage over the rail tracks to Hyack Square. That allowed us to walk in the New Westminster SkyTrain Station. We stopped at the Safeway and bought bananas and finally picked up a loyalty card for in-store discounts although we seldom buy anything there.
We returned home by SkyTrain as long as we were at the station.
